This policy explains what information Shokry Abd Ellatif Law Firm collects when you use this website, how we use it, and what choices you have. It applies to this website only; matters handled for clients are governed by our professional obligations of confidentiality and privilege, which take precedence over anything stated here.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

When you submit our contact form, we collect the details you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, telephone number, and the substance of your enquiry. If you contact us directly by email or telephone, or visit our office, we also hold whatever information you choose to give us.

Please do not send confidential, privileged, or time-critical material through the contact form or ordinary email. Contact us by telephone or in person where a matter is sensitive, or ask us for a secure method of exchange.

Information the site records automatically

Like any web server, ours records standard technical data in its logs, including your IP address, the date and time of your request, the page or file requested, your browser and device type, and the referring page. We use this data for security, to diagnose faults, and in aggregate to understand how the site is used.

What we do not collect

This website has no user accounts, no membership registration, and no password-based sign-in for visitors, so we hold no visitor passwords. Comments are disabled across the site. We do not run advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or rent your information to third parties for marketing.

Media

Images and documents published on this site are supplied by the firm. Where you are given the facility to upload a file, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors can extract it.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to your enquiry and to decide whether we are able and permitted to act for you; to establish, carry out, and administer a client-attorney relationship where appropriate; to perform the legal services you instruct us to provide; to meet our professional, legal, and record-keeping obligations; to secure and improve this website; and to communicate with you about the matters you have asked us about.

We do not use your details for unrelated marketing. Where we would like to send you news or invitations, we will ask you separately, and you may decline or withdraw that consent at any time.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookie when an ordinary visitor browses it, and we use no advertising or tracking cookies. A cookie is stored only if a member of our staff signs in to administer the site; WordPress requires that cookie for the administrator session, and it is removed when the session ends.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Pages and articles here may embed content from elsewhere, such as videos, maps, or social media. Embedded content comes from a third party that operates under its own privacy policy and may set cookies, collect data, or record your interaction. We do not control that third party. Where you choose to interact with embedded content, the third party’s terms and privacy notice apply to it.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your information with third parties except in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use providers who host this website and deliver our email. They act on our instructions and only to the extent needed to provide those services.
  • Legal requirement. Where disclosure is required by Egyptian law, a court, a regulator, or another competent authority, or where a formal legal demand is made.
  • Protecting rights and safety. Where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our clients, the firm, or the public.
  • Professional advice. Where we seek advice on a matter where doing so does not compromise client confidentiality.

Where the law allows, we will tell you that we have disclosed your information and why.

How Long We Retain Your Data

Enquiries that do not lead to a retainer are kept only for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and to meet any legal or professional requirement, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Client files are retained in accordance with applicable professional, legal, and record-keeping requirements, and are not deleted merely because an instruction ends. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and performance purposes.

Your Rights

You may ask us what information we hold about you, request a copy of it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us using the details in the section above and we will respond within a reasonable period, normally without charge.

There are limits to these rights. We may withhold or refuse information where:

  • it is subject to professional privilege or the duty of confidentiality owed to a current or former client;
  • we are required by law to retain it, or to keep records for regulatory or professional purposes;
  • it concerns another person’s rights or privacy; or
  • we need it to establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights.

We will always explain why we are relying on a limit.

Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information, including restricting access to those who need it for their role. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send us anything you would not want others to read over an open network. If you have any concern about a matter you have raised with us, please contact us so that we can agree a safer way to proceed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the revision date shown at the top records when it was last changed. We do not apply these changes retrospectively to information already collected.
