Courtroom-tested
Criminal and civil litigation handled in Egyptian courts, not only in theory.
Arabic & English
Clear advice in the language you think in.
Confidential
Every file handled with discretion, from the first call.
Same-day response
A matter that cannot wait is answered the day it arrives.
What the firm handles
Six areas, taken on properly rather than broadly. Each is a working practice with its own files and its own approach.
Also acting on commercial and corporate matters.
See how we can helpWhat you actually get when you instruct us
Most firms sell the same promise. These are the five things we will actually do, written so you can hold us to them.

The scope is agreed before we start
What the matter needs, what it will cost, and what is out of scope — in writing, before any work starts.
Advice in your language
Arabic and English, in plain terms. You should understand your own options without needing a translator.
You speak to the lawyer doing the work
No handover to a junior after the first meeting. The person you meet is the person on the file.
We tell you when you are losing
An honest assessment of a weak position is worth more than a confident fee. You will get the bad news early.
Negotiation before litigation
Where a settlement genuinely serves you better than a verdict, we will say so — and explain why.
How a matter actually runs
Four steps, no surprises. You know what is happening and what it costs at every stage.
First contact
You call or write. We ask what happened, in your words, and take the file.
Assessment
We read the documents and tell you your real position — including the parts that are weak.
Scope & fees
You get a written plan with the cost, the options, and what each one risks.
Execution
Negotiation where it serves you, litigation where it does not. Reported at every step.
What clients say
What clients say once the matter is behind them.
I was detained on a Friday night and had no idea what to do. They answered the same night, came to the station the next morning, and by Monday we had a plan. I never felt like a case number.
The thing I valued most was being told which parts of my position were weak. No one had done that before, and it saved me from spending a year on a bad case.
We came for a residency renewal and were told it was straightforward. It was not, and they explained exactly which document was the problem. Approved the following month.

A practice built on being straight with people
Abd Ellatif Law Firm was established in 2009 in Damietta and now works from Dumyat al Jadidah, serving individual clients and businesses across Egypt.
The firm kept a deliberately narrow shape: six practice areas, a team that knows them properly, and a preference for taking fewer matters and handling each one properly. That is a commercial decision, not a marketing one — it is the only way the quality stays consistent as the firm grows.
We are not paid to win cases. We are paid to give the best advice available on the matter in front of us, and to be honest when the answer is unfavourable.

Shokry Abd Ellatif
Founding Partner
A client should leave the first meeting knowing what their situation actually is. If we cannot say that clearly, we have not done the job yet.
Shokry Abd Ellatif founded the firm after several years in criminal and commercial practice, on the view that most clients were being advised towards outcomes rather than informed about their options. He leads the firm's criminal defence and commercial contract work.
